Mexico City—Pemex next week will drill two Gulf of Mexico wells in 2,500-meter(8,200-foot) water, the deepest-ever depths drilled by the Mexican state company, Pemex said May 24. The Supremus 1 and Trion 1 wells will be drilled in the Perdido Fold Belt, Pemex said on its Twitter account without providing further details. However, a company source said the wells would be drilled about 30 miles south of Mexico’s maritime border with the US. “At least one of the wells is to be drilled on Monday,” the source added.
