Tepco Gets First Bailout Money

The Japanese government has agreed to make a first payment of 890 billion yen ($11.4 billion) to crisis-stricken Tokyo Elec- tric Power Co. (Tepco) from the compensa- tion fund voted through parliament this summer after approving the company's cost- cutting plan. The Fukushima operator is also expected to receive 120 billion yen, or the amount at which public liability is set in the Act on Compensation for Nuclear Damage.
