GDF Suez Inks CIC Deal

France's GDF Suez on Monday firmed up a deal with China Investment Corp. (CIC), initialed in August, for a ?2.3 bil- lion ($3.2 billion) minority investment that will give the Chinese sovereign wealth fund a 30% stake in the French utility gi- ant's upstream division, GDF Suez E&P. CIC will also acquire 10% of the first train of the Atlantic LNG liquefaction plant in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as production payments associated with trains 2, 3 and 4, for ?600 million, following a memoran- dum of understanding signed in August (IOD Aug.11'11).
