Suncor, Gulfsands Are Latest to Suspend Operations in Syria

Canada’s Suncor and UK-based operator Gulfsands Petroleum have followed in the footsteps of Total and Royal Dutch Shell and announced they are suspending operations in Syria in response to tougher sanctions imposed against the Syrian regime earlier this month by the European Union (IOD Dec.6’11). But both companies say they will maintain a presence in the country and continue to support local employees.
