Noble Gets Ecuador Payment

Ecuador has paid Noble Energy $97 million in compensation for its energy assets after the US-based firm opted to exit the country rather than convert its production-sharing agreements into service contracts with stateowned Petroecuador. The conversion to fee-based service contracts was part of leftist president Rafael Correa's efforts to extend state control over Ecuador's oil sector late last year. Companies that declined to participate, like Noble Energy, were offered compensation in exchange for their assets.
