Shell Lets Iraq Work to Petrofac

Royal Dutch Shell has awarded a $240 million-plus contract to UK-based Petrofac to develop the supergiant Majnoon oil field in southern Iraq. Under the deal, Petrofac will provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for an early-production system that includes two trains each with capacity of 50,000 b/d. Work began in mid-2010 and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of next year.
