摘要

This special issue of International Journal of Electrical Engineering (IJEE) contains several cutting-edge research works in the general area of telecommunications in Taiwan in 2017. Four specific categories, communications, networking, signal processing and microwave techniques, were identified, and paper submissions had been called for each category. Within each category, numerous papers covering a very wide range of research topics had been submitted. In the communications-category, we received papers with topics on cooperative communications, LDPC codes, LTE-A systems, massive MIMOs, OFDM systems, SC-FDMA systems, spatial modulations, space-time codes, etc. Submissions falling in the networking-category had an even broader spectrum of coverage, including SDN networks, machine-type communication networks, D2D communications, Openflow-based mobile service networks, LTE networks, sensor networks, MPLS optical networks, energy harvesting, etc. We also received many papers for the signal processing-category, where topics included image processing, channel-estimation algorithms, antenna-selections methods, filter designs, radar signal processing, power allocation schemes, and the processing of biomedical signals. Papers submitted to the microwave technique-category included works on energy-harvesting rectennas, RF amplifier designs, triple-band antennas, millimeter wave radar sensors, microstrip lines, multiple-mode resonators, circular waveguide polarizers, etc.
