摘要

The umpolung of reactivity by electron transfer has developeh into a powerful synthetic principle for cyclizations. In this process, in acyclic molecules with two functional groups of the same reactivity, one of these groups has its reactivity reversed by oxidation of reduction, thereby initiating intramolecular C-C bond formation. The electrode has proven to be a useful reagent for this, as documented by numerous cyclizations at both the anode and the cathode.
