Exide Technologies Inc. could be facing increased penalties against its Vernon, Calif., lead-acid battery recycling facility.The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) has filed fresh legal action based on information made available when Exide agreed to settle a federal lawsuit over Clean Air Act violations earlier this year (amm.com, March 12), and is asking the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware to acknowledge its claim of a prima facie case.
