Novelis’ new chief plots pathway to growth

Novelis Inc. is optimistic that growth in automotive aluminum will help it stage an earnings recovery, after results in the fiscal fist quarter were impacted by plunging regional premiums and aluminum prices. Novelis noted a metal price lag, pegged at $85 million, resulting from dramatic declines in the Midwest premium in North America and aluminum prices on the London Metal Exchange, in its latest earnings report (see related story, page 7).
