India exempts exports from proposed ban on 27 pesticides

India’s Ministry of Agriculture has exempted pesticide exports from the proposed ban on 27 pesticides. The ban proposal was issued in an order called “Banning of Insecticides Order 2020” dated May 14th and published in the government gazette on May 18th. A 45-day comment period was opened along with it. The government received representations from various pesticide associations and companies asking it to allow manufacture for export purposes. The representations also sought an extension of the period for submission of objections and suggestions from 45 days to 90 days.
