摘要

Manila—Navajo Transitional Energy Co. LLC, or NTEC, will furlough 93 hourly workers and lay off eight salaried employees at its Antelope mine in Wyoming amid declining coal demand due to coronavirus pandemic, the Casper Star-Tribune reported May 21. A company spokesperson told the Star-Tribune that the demand for the mine’s coal has significantly declined as its customer base continues to face economic challenges. Antelope mine’s customers are mostly from the upper midwest’s industrial belt, which had been hit hard by the pandemic, the report said. Lower electricity demand also resulted in less need for coal, the Star-Tribune added.
