Lotte Chemical, S-Oil, and Hanwha Total Petrochemical have signed a memorandum of understanding with the provincial government of South Chungcheong, South Korea, to upgrade the Daesan petro- chemical complex, according to a local press report. Upgrading the complex, coupled with expanding the site's R&D facilities, would cost about 10 trillion South Korean won ($8.8 billion), the report adds. “Upgrading the Daesan petrochemical complex will contribute to creating jobs and expanding higher-quality chemical products,” said South Korean industry minister Paik Un-gyu during a recent chemi- cal industry meeting, according to the report.
