China's Ministry of Environmental Protection announced on Monday the launch of a fourth round of inspections of chemical producers and consumers. The inspections are in line with intensive environmental protection law enforcement activities in China since the end of 2016, more of which are expected. Numerous small and medium-sized chemical producers and downstream users have been ordered to rectify violations of local or national environmental regulations, and certain plants have had to shut down for causing severe pollution. About 2,834 chemical plants have reportedly closed in Jiangsu Province.Reduced production because of environmental law enforcement has caused chemical prices to increase in the Chinese market.
