Evonik profit falls on one-time costs, raw material bottlenecks

Evonik Industries reports adjusted net income of €249 million ($279 million) in the frst quarter, a fall of 5%. Adjusted EBIT fell by 16% year on year (YOY) to €315 million. Sales were €3.29 billion, compared with €3.25 billion in the year-ago quarter, an increase of 1%. The fall in proft was caused by one-time start-up costs for new production facilities and a temporary bottleneck in the supply of raw materials in the performance materials segment, according to Evonik. Adjusted EBITDA of €539 million was 1% ahead of analysts’ consensus estimate.
