[L continues to attract attention due to its versatile structure and this column has covered several papers on this subject]. J. Jin et al have used the sustainable solvent system acetic acid + water to simul- taneously fractionate, and clean a softwood Kraft L for conversion to carbon fibers. Three fractionated-solvated L precursors (FSLPs) of increasing molecular weight, 7200, 13800, and 28600, were obtained via the continuous Aqueous L Purification using hot acids process. These fractions had low ash content.
