"I guess it might come as a shock to some that whaling still takes place in the 21st century. In my view, whaling is something that has no place in civilised society and should be wrong in anyone's language." I guess my interest in animals and the environment goes back to when I was growing up in Grand Cayman. As a child, for the first few years of my life, the sea was my playground. One of my earliest memories is of our pet Labrador running along the beach whilst I was swimming. I also used to sit on the beach and hope for a dolphin to come up that I could be friends with! I spent as much of my childhood as possible in the water and remember believing that I could breathe underwater. Diving was always something that I just did; I fell into it and was told that I was good at it. I guess the rest is just history! Ultimately, free divers seek to emulate marine mammals.. .this is at the heart of what we do. It is quite humbling to think that we cannot even come close to the incredible skills and abilities that these animals possess in their own environment.
