GROWERS are the original recycters; there are few things growers don't recycle or reuse in some way. Agricultural plastics Jhave confounded even the most innovative growers, who have been pressed to find a way to efficiently dispose of miles of drip irrigation equipment. The disposal problem poses a dichotomy for those who adopt drip irrigation to conserve water resources only to produce agricultural waste. Disposal costs are making recycling an economical choice. Currently, the most common method of disposal of drip tape is the local landfill. With tipping costs ranging anywhere from $60 to $120 per ton to dispose of agricultural plastics, growers are faced with annual landfill fees as high as $1400 for a 160 acre farm.
