Ceonroy Foods got its start at Beano's Pizza & Suds, a restaurant established by Bill and Jim Conroy in 1985 in the small town of Blawnox outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The restaurant's pizza, submarine sandwiches and Italian entrees made a hit with customers. In 1989, a customer suggested selling Beano's submarine dressing to grocery stores. After visiting local supermarkets and national submarine sandwich chains and reading trade magazines, the brothers and Jim's wife concluded there was no dressing or condiment specifically designed for submarine sandwiches. When they learned these sandwiches were one of the fastest growing food categories in the United States, the trio formed Conroy Foods Inc.
