Results of development of a new technology for repair of a threaded part of axles of wheelset rollers using gas-shielded cladding are presented. It is shown that this technology can be successfully employed in industry in parallel with theexisting one, based on submerged-arc cladding. Metal deposited in one layer, using the new technology, has strength equal to that of base metal and features a ferritic-pearlitic structure with a minimum size of prior austenitic grain (approximately 6...5, according to GOST 5639-82), while the repaired thread M11054,0 meets the specified requirements. This makes tracking the arc during the cladding process and the cladding procedure much simpler and provides an increase of more than 2.5 times in the process productivity.
