摘要

The four-wave mixing (FWM) degrades the transmission characteristics of wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems using a dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF). This phenomenon causes system degradation in multi-channel transmission even though it can be used for generation of new wavelength light that is different from incident wavelength lights. However, FWM can be applied as a measurement tool for fiber parameters including nonlinear refractive index. In this report, we discuss simultaneous measurement technique for parameters of zero-dispersion wavelength λ{sub}0, and nonlinear refractive index n{sub}2 in DSF based on FWM. It was found that λ{sub}0=1553.0[nm] and n{sub}2=2.69×10{sup}(-20)[m{sup}2/W] are obtained by using the linear polarization states of wavelength tunable CW DFB-LD source and 20km length of DSF sample.
