Effect of grass crops on productivity of Galega orientalis.

Cultivation of mixed crops of G. orientalis cv. Gale was studied in 1997-99 in the republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. The treatments studied were pure stand of G. orientalis, G. orientalis + Bromopsis inermis [Bromus inermis] cv. Chishminskii and G. orientalis + Dactylis glomerata cv. Birskaya 1. Plots were set up on leached chernozem. Sowing rate was 15 kg/ha (7.5 + 7.5 kg/ha in mixes). Data on the stand density, dry weight content, plant height and percentage leaf cover are tabulated. The best dry weight yield (2.34 t/ha in 1998 and 7.05 t/ha in 1999) was achieved using the G. orientalis + B. inermis mixed crop.
