An internet-based, validated tool to inform quality assurance on the delivery of anaesthetic training in the Northern Deanery

Specialist training rotations can be difficult to assess and regulate. A method of collecting training information was developed to influence change in under-performing hospitals. Using an adapted Anaesthetic Theatre Educational Environment Measure (ATEEM) an online survey was created. Questions were added to obtain information regarding national quality indicators. Email requests to complete the survey are sent every 6 months to all anaesthetic trainees within the Deanery. The survey report is circulated to the School Executive, and every College Tutor and Clinical Director, allowing comparison between hospitals. The survey is now in its third year and continues to run.
