A Working Day in the Life of Erik Aspen, Managing Director, Heggset Engineering

Our company, Heggset Engineering as, has eight employees, all Senior Engineers, and specialises in engineering work for the aluminium industry. The organisation was founded some 30 years ago by B jarne A Heggset and, through the years, has built up a solid reputation as a problem solver for the industry. In my own case, after working for five years as a Mechanical Engineer, I took over from Bjarne as Managing Director of the company in January, 2007. Bjarne then changed responsibilities, acting as Senior Technical Advisor and Chairman of the firm. My typical working day starts at 7.00 am. I normally commence with checking my e-mails for any new messages since the previous day. The next step sees me taking part in the current engineering projects for which I have responsibility. In a relatively small company like ours, there is no room for a 100 percent administrative position, so although I head up the organisation, I am always involved in the engineering work on a daily basis. I enjoy this, as such tasks are very interesting and rewarding.
