The perspectives of interspecific hybridization use in cherry breeding in connection with new understanding of the genus Cerasus structure

摘要

The main lines and results of interspecific crossings in cherry breeding and the reasons preventing its extensive application are considered. New ideas about internal structure of the genus Cerasus and general regularities, following from them, which are important for development of breeding are short stated. The possibilities and perpectives of crossings of sweet cherry and sour cherry with different cherry species for improving fruit taste, increasing winter hardiness and disease resistance in different regions are considered.
