Harvesting hard cash out of shredder residue

Gome June or July, Green EnviroTech Corp. (GET) will break ground on a 26-million dollars, 100,000-ton-per-year plant to process shredder residue at the Fond du Lac, Wis., facility of Sadoff & Rudoy Industries LLP (S&R). The facility, expected to be in service in about a year, is among a flurry of installations that shredder operators hope will help them evaluate the myriad approaches for extracting maximum value from the estimated 5 million tons of fluff produced each year in the United States while minimizing landfill costs. Mechanical separation processes are competing with plasma-based reactors that generate chemical feedstocks for fuel.
