Stainless imports, consumption rise in May

NEW YORK - U.S. stainless steel imports and consumption continued to increase in May, gaining 40.2 percent from the same month last year. Imports of all stainless products totaled 72,883 short tons for the month, up from 51,978 tons from the same month last year, moving the five-month tally to 335,588 tons, according to data from the Washington-based Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA).
