Shrews of two western regions of Pskov district and their chromosome diagnoses (Sorex, Soricidae, Insectivora)

Chromosome sets of two shrew species from two western regions of Pskov district were studied. Common distribution of S. isodon and S. araneus is revealed karyologically in the vicinity of Anninskoye Lake (Sebezh region, Pskov district). The specimens of the latter species found in two localities (northwestern and southwestern Pskov district) belong to a Finnish karyological group marked with "ip" arm combination. Identification of the new chromosome race "Pskov" is based on such fusions as gm, hk, nr, oq.
