Chironomus sokolovae sp. no. is a new species of the group obtusidens (Diptera, Chironomidae)

The morphology of male, female, pupae, and larva in the new species, Chironomus sokolovae from the group obtusidens is desribed. In males, the species is characterized at the imaginal stage by coloration of hypopygium, shape of superior volsella, keel of anal point. AR, LRta_3, and BRta_1. Femalses are distinguished by coloration of abdominal tergites, shape of cercus, Ac, Dc, Pa, LRta_4, and BRta_1. At the pupa stage, the species is identified by the structure of spine of tergite III posterolateral margin, coloration and structure of anal lobe, lenght of thorax, sheath of wing and antenna. At the larva stage, the species is characterized by coloration of head capsule, shape of menthum teeth, lenght of blade, number of radial striae of ventromental plate, and by Lat, L, and W. A key to identifying some species from the group obtusidens is given based on morphological characters of male, pupae and larvae.
