Comparative osteology of Dacodraco hunteri and its position within the family channichthyidae (Notothenioidei)

A cladsogram of interrelationships between Dacodraco hunteri and nine other genera Channichthyidae family is proposed on the basis of comparative and cladistic analyses of 31 osteological parameters. The following three groups of genera corresponding to three subfamilies are distinguished: (1) Champsocephalus; (2) Pseudochaenichthys, Pagetopsis, and Neopagetostis; (3) Dacodraco, Channichthys, Chaenocephalus, Cryodraco, Chionodraco, and Chaenodraco. Within the third group of genera (Cryodraconinae subfamily), three tribes (Daccdraconini, Channichthyini, and Cryodraconini) are suggested to be recognized.
