In conventional Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar systems, we should simultaneously observe two beat frequencies in an up-chirp phase and a down-chirp phase to estimate the distance and the velocity of a target. On the other hand, in proposed FMCW radar systems using the beat frequency tracking filter a target can be estimated even if only one of the beat frequencies is extracted. In this paper, we have introduced a stochastic model for observation of the beat frequency and discussed the detection probability of the proposed measurement algorithm. Some simulations also showed that the detection probability of the proposed algorithm was always higher than the conventional algorithm.
