Changes of electronic parts for space applications - history of 30 years

The National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) was established in October of 1969 and since then has been involved in the development of satellites and vehicles in successive to the works of the former Radio Research Laboratory and National Space Development Center. At that time electronic parts management was a discussion topic. For the past 30 years, development, supply and qualification systems for the space parts have been arranged and worked smoothly. In this 10 years, however, the environment around the space electronic parts has changed along with the changes of the world situation including the end of the Cold War. In this paper, we will look back on the process that NASDA walked on to develop the electronic parts and consider strategies that NASDA is to take in the future.
