Electronic commerce and protection of personal data

In recent years, as the progress of information-oriented society with the advance of information and communication technology, electronic commerce play an important role. Particularly, electronic commerce for an individual is expanded remarkably. In such a situation, a protection of personal data which is exchanged over a network become one of the most important issue. In this paper, we report how to cope with the issue in Japan.
