A basic plan of a micro reactor for the promotion of nuclear literacy necessity of the reactor

It is important for ordinary Japanese to achieve scientific literacy, which enables to understand information appropriately and make their decision reasonably, on science and technology, including nuclear activities. To achieve nuclear literacy, a reactor for interpretation should be established at a science and technology museum, where students, educators and the public would understand functions of an actual reactor and get interests in nuclear activities, so they would understand what nuclear energy is. In this facility, scientists and engineers including pioneers of nuclear activities in Japan should be engaged and provide interpretative contents for various guests, for example, practical operation of the reactor. This facility would be preferred to be established in metropolitan area, where many visitors would be expected to come. Then this facility would be very useful for the achievement of nuclear literacy.
