Public acceptance of the utilization of nuclear technology necessity of using the system which is similar to that of the ISO14001

Safety itself is a key factor in enhancing public acceptance of the utilization of nuclear technology. At the same time, it is indispensable for businesses using nuclear technology to foster public trust by being regarded as "companies which are making serious efforts to attain higher level of safety". However, recent nuclear accidents related to the MONJU plant and JCO have seriously hampered this trust. Based on the above understanding, this paper uses the 1S014001 framework to consider a possible solution to recover public trust. An examination of the 1S014001 shows that it is seen as a framework to prove to the outside world that the party in question is reliable in terms of behaving in an environmentally sound manner. Accordingly, there must be a possibility for businesses using a nuclear technology to be able to use the ideas of the framework in terms of safety instead of the environment.
