It was Shin-Nagoya Thermal Power Station owned by Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (CEPCO) that was born in 1964 with its largest capacity in the East Asia, located in Nagoya Port, Aichi Pref. It has been playing an important role of power supplyfor over thirty years and contributed to the economic growth in Japan. However, it gradually gave the leading part to other new power stations due to its aging.In 1993, CEPCO announced Refreshment Plan of this power station. The Plan consisted of both scrapping of very old units and construction of new advanced combined cycle plant. We started commercial operation of Shin-Nagoya Thermal Power Station Group No.7, which was the first construction in the Plan, in December 1998. It was the completion of the most advanced combined cycle power plant having the capacity of 1,458MW with 1,300°C class gas turbines.This power station located in the entrance of Nagoya Port, which was given careful consideration for scenic harmony with surroundings and adopted the most advanced level of technology for environmental protection in the world, has accomplished renovationto up-to-date, clean, and urban power station.
