SDN-based Multicast Management Architecture for Video Streaming

Group communications require scalable and efficient multicast mechanisms. However, in IP network, the management of multicast groups is distributed among network routers, and there is a limitation in updating the global topology and constructing the multicast tree. Software Defined Network (SDN) has been proposed to solve these problems. However, current solutions don't solve the bandwidth problem between adjacent link because they consider only the entire bandwidth. In this paper, we propose an architecture for SDN based multicast management useful to video streaming. We propose an architecture that can set the required bandwidth through the Northbound API and support bandwidth-aware multicast through the multicast manager in the control layer.
