VPN Services in Mobile Multimedia Metropolitan Area Network Providing Home Office Environment to Business Users in Vehicles

摘要

This paper presents an all IP mobile network used in the metropolitan area named as Mobile Multimedia Metropolitan Area Network (MM-MAN). The networks main service is VPN between mobile terminals and their office networks. Business users might require the same IT environment as in their office during high-speed movement. To fulfill such demand, VPN service must be deployed to provide secure high-bit-rate channels for high-speed terminals inside mobile networks. For secure VPN service, address concealment is essential in mobile networks since packet destination and origination can indicate business activities of users to the third parties. Security of data must be the user's responsibility as packets from the mobile terminals will traverse over the wireless section. In addition, users might require higher layer unencrypted real time data to avoid delays due to encryption supported by lower layers. Private addresses, which cannot indicate any particular user properties, are used for address concealment.
