Development and Operation Results of Orimulsion? Firing Boiler

The Kashima-Kita Electric Power Corporation's #2 boiler was modified in 1991 to be Japan's first Orimulsion?firing boiler. Since then, 4 more have been modified the sameway. We evaluated operating results and Orimulsion? propertiesfor these units. Basing on this evaluation, we designed a unitexclusively for Orimulsion? firing and constructed it atKashima-Kita Electric Power Corporation. Commissioning testdata showed that the unit provided the anticipated goodperformance, and the facility went into commercial operation in September 1998.
