SECONDARY POROSITY OF IRON-MANGANESE NODULES FROM THE PACIFIC OCEAN BOTTOM

摘要

Data of secondary porosity of iron-manganese formations (IMF) of various mineral-geochemical types are demonstrated with example of Specimens picked up from the Pacific ocean bottom. It has been revealed that diagenetic nodules represented by the association 1.0(0.7) nm of manganese minerals are characterized by the specific surface 70-120 m~2/g, while vernaditic composition nodules have 290-340 m~2/g. In the whole, IMF are the mixed-porous compounds and contain three types of pores: micro- meso- and macropores, but mesoporosity, with effective radius up to 10 nm, usually prevails. Obtained data allow to discuss phenomenon of the higher velocity of metal ions sorption by IMF.
