At TXI Chaparral Steel (USA), SMS Demag AG for the first time introduced a new, future-oriented mill concept for the production of heavy sections. The newly developed Compact Cartridge Stands, as a universal mill stand equipped with nine adjusting cylinders are controlled by a state-of-art technological control systems developed and supplied by SMS Demag. The integrated technological modules AGC and Monitor Control, which receive online measurement data from a multi-axial laser gauge, provide the customer with the ability to achieve much better product tolerances.
