摘要

A 3D CAD/CAM system has been developed to support concurrent engineering of lighting products. The system consists of a highly accurate laser scanner to trace shapes (for example a model for a petal motif) and CAD software to edit shapeinformation. The software has functions for layout, shape corn position, deformations, and material thickness control. Use of concurrent engineering techniques dramatically reduces the time from initial design to mold manufacture. The system also permitsuse of acrylic materials to replace conventional glass materials, reducing product weight and cost and boosting safety.
