摘要

A color image processing device has been developed with the intention to perform visual recognition in a production line by converting RGB signals from a color camera to the CIE-LAB color system. It is also designed to improve the detection performance and operability by calculating the chroma, hue angle and brightness that are similar to the human perception characteristics, and extracting certain colors for data compression before starting a recognition operation. This device is equipped with a color extraction function built into the hardware for the faster processing required in a production line and applies a contour template matching technique based on the coarse-and-fine processing for a matching operation after color extraction, in order to achieve a rapid detection unaffected by rotation of the target. A report has also been written about a user interface for supporting the setting operation of a color to be extracted by directly specifying the extraction area in a color image.
