The content of free amino acids in the soils under pine forests of Belarus and Poland

The influence of climatic continentality on the dynamics of free amino acids in the soils and litters of pine forests of Belarus and Poland was studied along the transect following the 53 deg N parallel. It was found that there is a strong correlation between the contents of free amino and nucleic acids that constitute about 3-7 and 11-15 percent of the total microbial biomass, respectively. Their contents increase from the northeast to the southwest. The relationships between the biogenic properties of soils and zonal typological peculiarities of pine phytocenoses in Belarus are discussed.
