In modern designs of gas-turbine engines they widely use precision-cast steel and high-temperature alloy parts, for which a method of radially-directional solidification implemented in the UVPP-1 (1,2) has been developed and tested. Observation of optimum process condition ensures structure directedness and elimination of microporosity, which ultimately enhances the reliability of a part's operation.
