Toshiba introduced the GENIO PCV100 pocket communicator in July 1997. GENIO uses the personal handy-phone system (PHS) data transmission service, which started in April 1997. Equipped with PHS, electronic organizer, e-mail, and Internet browserfunctions, GENIO realizes high portability.We introduced the MT-10JC memotelephone in April 1998. The memotelephone inherits the portability and data transmission functions of GENIO, and also has memo-telephone, memo sending/receiving, and fax sending functions. The memotelephone function emulates conversation by exchanges of handwritten memos. This provides a convenient means of outdoor communication for the hearing-impaired.
