Development and practical use of SBV62 steel plate for boilers and pressure vessels

SBV62 steel plate and equivalent forged steel have been developed as a material for steam waterseparators and separation tanks of ultra super-critical pressure boilers. Confirmation tests for thesematerials showed both an excellent high temperature strength and performance equal to the currentSBV2 steel in respect of processing such as welding, bending, etc. Compared with SBV2 steel, thenew steels permit higher allowable stress to be applied and the wall thickness of pressure vessel canbe reduced to the same level as ordinary plants, even if further high temperature and pressure, assteam conditions, should be required.
