A study of the policy-based multi-layer coordination system for managing IP-VPN

As the voice and data network are integrated into the IP network, enterprise users require new IP services such as IP-VPN service which can provide various QoS and high-reliability. To satisfy this requirement, the policy-based management for the layer3 network (L3PBM) is proposed. Because the capability of detecting failures or performance degradations is poor, there is a problem that L3PBM cannot satisfy customers' requirement. In this paper, we propose a policy-based Multi-Layer Coordination System. This can provide hi-speed and flexible policy-based management for the layer3 network by using the information of the layer2 network devices. And we also show the performance evaluation of a prototype system.
