摘要

This paper considers scattering by a layer in which many spherical lossy particles are randomly distributed. A dense medium radiative transfer equation (DMRTE) is used to evaluate the scattered power from the layer. The parameters of the DMRTE can be determined by four different multiple scattering approximations. The comparison of scattering cross sections between the four approximations is made by changing the incident and scattering angle, the polarization state and the fractional volume of particles. The numerical results show that there is the large difference of the scattering cross section between the four approximations, and indicate that an appropriate multiple scattering method should be used when using the DMRTE.
