Technology trend of speech signal processing and expectation for the future

CELP algorithm have accelerated the development of speech CODEC. Now, 4kb/s CELP can realize near toll quality. However, degradation of the reproduced signal quality when music signal is overlapped is one of the problems. To mitigate this, such techniques as blind signal separation are expected. For noise canceler, microphone array and nonlinear signal processing are hopeful. Sub-band filter bank technique has been recently paid attention again to apply to the next generation telecommunication systems.
